Right-sizing matters more than raw capacity. A 150 kg/day line running at 80% utilisation earns considerably more than a 500 kg/day line running at 20%; machines can be added to a well-planned layout later, but idle capital cannot be recovered. Groundnut Sourcing Within Zambia
Zambia’s groundnut production centres on Eastern Province — Chipata, Katete and Petauke — with further volume in Central Province. For a Lusaka plant that means inbound road freight of several hundred kilometres, and moisture control during transit belongs in your model from the start.
- Aflatoxin management starts at intake, not at grinding. Groundnut aflatoxin is a documented concern across the region. Never skip the sorting table and vibratory sieve stage, however tempting the saving looks on the machine list.
- Moisture drives your roast profile. A stable supplier relationship is worth more to product consistency than a marginally lower kernel price.
- Smallholder supply needs tighter screening. Buying through aggregators widens your intake variability — budget for the grading stage rather than treating it as optional.
- Rejecting bad kernels at intake is far cheaper than recalling finished product from the trade.

Drawings Before Dispatch
Layout, foundation and utility drawings reach you while the machines are still on our floor. For a landlocked destination that lead time is worth using: complete the slab, drainage and electrical work during the four to six weeks the consignment spends in transit and on the corridor, and commissioning starts the week it arrives.
Training Your Operators
Commissioning covers roast profiling, grinder gap setting and the cleaning cycle, plus restart procedure after a power interruption — which in Zambia is a routine operating skill rather than an edge case. Engineer deputation to Lusaka is quoted separately; remote commissioning over video is available where a visit is not practical.
