Peanut Butter Machines
Built for Kenya

Kenya has the most developed modern retail sector in East Africa, and peanut butter has moved firmly from commodity to branded category on those shelves. Domestic groundnut comes largely from the western counties — Busia, Bungoma, Homa Bay and Migori — supplemented by regional imports. For a processor, the opportunity is less about raw material access than about consistent quality at a price the supermarket channel will carry.

Shrijee Nut Company manufactures the machinery that consistency depends on. We have built peanut and nut processing equipment in Rajkot, Gujarat since 2004, with more than 500 machine installations and over 100 turnkey plant projects delivered. We export to Kenya on FOB and CIF terms with the full documentation set your clearing agent needs.

Getting the Size Right

Choose Capacity for Your Market

Over-specifying is the most common and most expensive mistake we see. Buy for the demand you can prove, not the demand you hope for.

Starter Line

100–150 kg/day

New brand serving Nairobi duka trade, farm shops and online listings.

  • Manual or compact roasting
  • Single-stage grinding
  • Manual filling
  • Minimal floor space

Industrial Line

1,000+ kg/day

Contract manufacturer, private-label supplier or EAC regional exporter.

  • Continuous roasting
  • Automated blanching
  • In-line filling and labelling
  • Bulk storage tanks

In Kenya the constraint is usually listings, not capacity. Supermarket chains want consistency and continuity of supply before volume, so a smaller line running reliably beats a larger one running intermittently. Size for the shelf space you have actually secured, and design the layout so a second grinder can be added when listings expand. Freight, duties, clearing and installation sit on top of the machinery — plan for them explicitly. See our plant investment guide and automation comparison.

Why Source from India

Four Engineering Reasons,
Not Marketing Claims

Electrical Compatibility

Kenya and India both run 50Hz supply with 415V three-phase distribution — effectively identical. Motors, gearboxes and control panels drop straight into a Kenyan factory with no frequency conversion and no rewind. Machinery sourced from 60Hz markets does not have this advantage.

Retail-Grade Consistency

Supermarket listings are won and lost on batch-to-batch consistency. Two-stage grinding and controlled roast profiling are what hold texture and colour steady across production runs — not something to economise on if chain retail is the target.

Repairable On Site

Standard-section stainless fabrication, common bearing sizes and widely available motor frames mean a competent Nairobi fabricator or millwright can maintain the line, rather than waiting on a factory technician from overseas.

Aflatoxin-Aware Design

Kenya enforces aflatoxin limits seriously, and testing failures at the finished-product stage are expensive. Our lines put grading and screening ahead of grinding by design, because that is the only stage where bad kernels can still be rejected cheaply.

From Our Works to Your Floor

Importing Machinery into Kenya

We handle manufacture, pre-dispatch testing, export packing and documentation. Clearing on the Kenyan side is handled by your licensed agent.

01

Proforma Invoice

We issue a proforma invoice against which your bank and clearing agent begin the import file.

02

PVoC & Conformity

Kenya requires pre-export verification of conformity for regulated imports; your agent arranges inspection and the certificate before dispatch.

03

Manufacture & Testing

Two to four weeks depending on configuration, with pre-dispatch testing.

04

Sea Freight

Mundra or Nhava Sheva to Mombasa, roughly 16–24 days port to port.

05

Clearance & Haulage

Customs clearance at Mombasa, then road or rail haulage to Nairobi or your site.

Do not skip the conformity step. Kenya’s pre-export verification regime means inspection happens before the goods leave India. Arranging it late is the single most common cause of demurrage at Mombasa, and it is entirely avoidable.

Product registration applies to the peanut butter you sell, not to the machine. Import and standards procedures are revised periodically — confirm the current position with your clearing agent, and do not rely on this page as a compliance reference.

Engineering for Your Site

Specified for Kenyan
Operating Conditions

Nairobi’s industrial supply is comparatively stable, but coastal and upcountry sites face different constraints. We account for that when quoting.

Right-Sized Electrics

A connected-load schedule ships with every quotation so your contractor can size supply, changeover and any backup set accurately. Soft or star-delta starters on higher-rated grinding motors keep inrush current from tripping generator sets.

Coast Versus Highland

Mombasa humidity and Nairobi’s cooler highland climate call for different cooling-belt residence times and storage practice. Tell us where the plant will sit and the specification follows the site rather than a generic template.

Testing-Ready Layout

We lay out intake, grading and quarantine so incoming batches can be sampled and held before they reach the grinder — the practical requirement behind aflatoxin compliance, and much cheaper than testing finished stock.

Raw Material

Groundnut Sourcing Within Kenya

Kenya’s domestic groundnut comes mainly from the western counties — Busia, Bungoma, Homa Bay and Migori — with additional volume imported from neighbouring producers. That mixed supply base makes intake screening more important here than in a single-origin market.

  • Aflatoxin management starts at intake, not at grinding. Kenya enforces limits seriously. Never skip the sorting table and vibratory sieve stage — rejecting kernels at intake is far cheaper than a failed test on finished stock.
  • Mixed origins mean mixed moisture. If you buy from more than one source, expect to re-profile roasting per batch unless you grade tightly at intake.
  • Chain retail demands traceability. Documented batch records are increasingly a listing condition, not a nice-to-have.
  • A stable supplier relationship is worth more to product consistency than a marginally lower kernel price.

Installation, Commissioning
& Operator Training

Drawings Before Dispatch

Layout, foundation and utility drawings reach you while the machines are still on our floor, so civil and electrical work at your Nairobi or upcountry site finishes before the consignment clears Mombasa. We lay out intake and quarantine deliberately, so batch sampling has somewhere to happen.

Training Your Operators

Commissioning covers roast profiling, grinder gap setting and the cleaning cycle, plus the intake screening discipline that keeps you on the right side of aflatoxin testing. Engineer deputation is quoted separately; remote commissioning over video is available where a visit is not practical.

Common Questions

Peanut Butter Machines in Kenya

Yes. We manufacture in Rajkot, Gujarat and export to Kenya on FOB or CIF terms through Mundra and Nhava Sheva ports, with delivery to Mombasa. We supply the export documentation set your clearing agent needs, including the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin.

Yes. Kenya and India both use 50Hz supply with 415V three-phase distribution, so our standard motors and control panels run without frequency conversion or rewind — a genuine advantage over machinery built for 60Hz markets. We supply the connected-load schedule with every quotation so supply and any backup set can be sized correctly.

Kenya operates a pre-export verification of conformity programme for regulated imports, with inspection carried out before goods leave the country of supply. Your licensed clearing agent will confirm whether your specific consignment falls in scope and arrange the certificate. Arranging it late is the most common cause of demurrage at Mombasa.

Most entrants start between 100 and 300 kg per day, which suits duka trade, farm shops and online listings while keeping capital exposure low. Brands targeting national supermarket chains typically specify 500 to 1,000 kg per day with semi-automatic roasting and automatic filling, because chain retail rewards consistency and volume.

Sea freight from Mundra or Nhava Sheva to Mombasa typically runs 16 to 24 days port to port, before customs clearance. Add two to four weeks for manufacturing and pre-dispatch testing. Treat these as indicative — actual transit varies with carrier routing and port congestion.

Layout, foundation and utility drawings are supplied before dispatch so civil and electrical work finishes before the consignment clears Mombasa. On site we commission the line and train your operators on roast profiling, grinder gap setting, cleaning and the intake screening discipline behind aflatoxin compliance. Engineer deputation is quoted separately, covering travel, visa and per-diem.

Yes. A complete line covering roasting, cooling, blanching, grading, two-stage grinding, mixing, filling and labelling is supplied as one package with a single layout. For processors targeting chain retail this is usually the right choice, because batch consistency depends on the stages being matched to each other rather than assembled from separate suppliers. We have delivered over 100 turnkey projects since 2004.
